Ms Geraghty's 6th Class

Returning to school this year was always going to be a strange and difficult challenge for everyone. However, as a new member of staff in St. Catherine's NS, my first day was a completely new experience on all fronts. Thankfully, Mr. O'Sé, all the teachers, SNAs, secretaries and caretakers made me feel very welcome and at home, which eased my anxiety. I could not wait to meet my new class and get back to what I love to do - have fun teaching and learning with the children. I have been bowled over by the pupils of our school. They have taken on the new procedures with enthusiasm and have done their very best to live up to one of our core values - safety. Seeing their cheerful faces come through the door each morning makes the 'new normal' easier to deal with, knowing that everyone is determined to make each new day a good day. We are all working together to keep everyone safe and to keep everyone in school. We have an exciting year ahead and I hope it will be the best year in school yet, now that we know not to take the simple things for granted. Thank you to all the children, their parents, the staff and the Board of Management in St. Catherine's NS for making my first few weeks so enjoyable. Here's to a great school year!
