We love to create in St Catherine's NS.
In September 2024, St Catherine's Resident's Association and St Catherine's National school jointly applied for a grant from Fingal Co Council to do a project to combat graffiti in the environment.
The brief to the artist was
-
about caring for our environment, eliminating graffiti while learning about quality StreetArt
-
it is a collaboration between our Resident's association and the school
-
The Residents have a community garden at our school gates
-
the artwork should reflect the community caring for the children in our school
-
It would be great if it was in keeping with the colour scheme and aesthetics of our school
Ar scáth a chéile a mhaireann na daoine. Which literally means 'we live in each other's shadow' in the sense that we are shielded from the sun by each other, we rely on each other for shelter. It speaks to our interdependence on each other to thrive and grow but also to awakening in us the urgency of caring for our environment and planet.
I think we can all agree Adela and the children in 3rd and 4th class did an amazing job. Thank you St. Catherine's residence association and Fingal County Council.
